Class: Soft Sculpture Applique'
This class covers the creation of a three-dimensional Soft Sculpture Applique (SSA) teddy bear shaped object; development of patterns for other SSA objects; and designing appropriate vignettes to showcase SSA objects.

The Class is taught in 3 Lessons with breaks in-between.

Lesson One covers the discussion of suitable supplies, selection of vignettes for soft sculpture objects, choice of fabrics ad embellishments. Students will create a background for the soft sculpture object.

Lesson Two covers the creation of a soft sculpture bear, selection of appropriate designs for soft sculpture patterns, developing patterns, and the application of rules of color/scale/proportion. Students will create the basic soft sculpture bear.

Lesson Three covers the development of a vignette for soft sculpture objects, selection of a vignette for the teddy bear, and creation of detached ribon flowers to enhance designs. Students will create a vignette and attach the soft sculpture bear within that scene.
Supplies:

One 12-inch square of muslin or a ready-made crazy quilt block.
One 12-inch square of thin bating. (optional for cq block)
One 5-inch square of good quality felt (bears can be tan, brown, white, black, gray...so any of these shades are fine).
One 6-inch square of backing fabric. (thin muslin or tightly woven chiffon/organza)
One yard each of six-strand embroidery floss in these colors: Black, pink, green...and color of felt.
One yard each of three different colors of 7mm silk ribbon for flowers (can substitute ready-made ribbon flowers, flower buttons, or quarter-inch rayon/nylon ribbon)
